Callington Victory

A dominant and positive performance from Tivvy, from the kick off we shifted the ball quickly, movement was good and we created many chances to sore, but just couldn’t find the net. Tom Tricker came the closest when he rounded the keeper and from a slight angle smashed the ball against the post with the goal gapping…
Chances came and went, the visitors didn’t trouble keeper Wannell much, but they did have a good chance to score from a cross at the far post, but was weakly headed wide.
Just before half time, a good free kick was swung in to find Jordan Bastin free to head the ball home in fine fashion…
The 2nd half started in the same manner, and it wasn’t long before the next goal came. A free kick just outside the opposition box, and Ethan Phillips stepped up to stroke home a sublime kick into the top left corner of the goal, leaving the keeper with no chance. Then virtually with the next attack, Luke Mortimer found himself free to have a strike on goal to make it 3-0 in quick time.
Callington didn’t fold though, and to their credit kept pressing and trying to create chances. With various changes being made by us, and formation reshuffles, it gave our hosts a slight foothold in the game as they created some chances to press our defence, but as a unit we have been a lot stronger recently, and kept our hosts at bay for a clean sheet..
Luke did add his 2nd, and our 4th goal, and chances kept coming and going.
A good 4-0 result, building on our previous weeks performances. Only slight negative was Jamie Mudge picking up a fractured wrist whilst blocking a shot, but bravely soldiered on.
Next Saturday we welcome St Blazey to Ladysmead, and hopefully we build again on this good period of performances that sees us keep track with the top half of the table. St Blazey haven’t had a great start to the season, but there isn’t a given game in this league, and we know we will have to battle hard in every game.
Hopefully another 3 points to keep the run of good form going, and a good crowd to support the boys from the Ladysmead faithful as well. COYY’s
