Captain Fantastic Re-Signed

The signings are coming thick and fast so keep an eye on the website this week.

Following  talks the club are over the moon that last years captain James Richards ‘Rico’ has agreed terms and will once again captain the Yellows for the new season.  following the announcement James said in an interview with the Tiverton Gazette ‘It’s quite nice to have clubs interested me, as it shows people have noticed I’m doing well. However, I’m hoping to push on this season and win stuff with Tiverton.

“I wasn’t happy with our position in the league last season, as I want to get Tiverton winning things again. I know the club used to be a lot bigger than they are now, so it will nice to get up near the play-offs this season and win some trophies.

“We’ve made some good signings and we’re going to have a lot more depth in our squad this season, which is something we lacked towards the Christmas period last year. Things are looking up at the moment.”

Richards has again been confirmed as captain for the forthcoming season, which he says is an honour.

The 22-year-old said: “Being captain means a lot to me – when I picked it up last season, I was only 21, so it was a massive shock to me. It’s not changed my game but it’s made me more confident and shows the manager trusts me and thinks I can lead the team.

“Tiverton’s a club I love playing for. I’m from Exeter, so it’s close to me and I used to go and watch them as a youngster with my dad, so it’s quite nice to go and play at Ladysmead. .

“The supporters were brilliant last year. I spoke to them at the end-of-season do and, whilst I was confident I would stay, it wasn’t confirmed and they didn’t seem too happy, so I wanted to tell them first on Twitter. It got a good reaction, which I what I was hoping for.
