Exeter City U18’s v Tiverton Reserves.

A good game of football saw Exeter and Tiverton share there first pre season game 2-2.
With several new faces and a change of formation, a young mobile and well drilled City side played some good pass and move football. And as Tivvy legs tired gaps did start to open before the hosts put there first goal away. Tivvy did compete well, with some good play of there own, and were a little disappointed that none of the corners didn’t produce better results with some good delivery.
The second half saw a change of shape and personnel, and with a more solid 4-4-2 we competed better, and coped better with there quick free flowing game. Although a little disappointing to lose a 2nd goal after giving away possession in the opposition half, and a long cleared ball saw City race away for another cool finish to make it 2-0. Tivvy carried on playing the way we like to, and it wasn’t long before Jamie Dirrane scored first from close range to open the Tivvy account. With the game ebbing and flowing, both teams created chances, but it was Tivvy who scored through a Luke Mortimer shot. And not long after Jesse Howe hit the crossbar leaving the keeper stranded from a good free kick. Stand in keeper Paul Gibbons had an excellent game with John Wannell being unavailable, and all the new faces acquitted themselves well, and things look good for the strength of the squad, with 6 or 7 faces still to come back there will be some good competition for places.
We now move on to Wednesday evening with a game against Exwick Villa, at Creditons Lords Meadow ground. Any support would be more than welcome…
