Richards impressive start
Tivvy went into the game against a strong Parkway team that had only lost twice so far this season. We started the game well, and it wasn’t long before new signing James Richards swung in a pinpoint cross from wide for James Mudge to turn in at the front post on 8 minutes, continuing to press gave us more rewards, as a well swung in Connor Clifford corner was flicked on for Lloyd Copp to steal in unmarked and head home from close range, and make it 2-0 tivvy on 13 minutes. With large amounts of play heading the Parkway end, it wasn’t long before another quality Richards cross was turned goalbound, only for an outstretched keepers hand to parry the ball for Jordan Bastin to pounce and tuck it home, 3-0 tivvy on 20 minutes. Parkway had a well struck free kick bounce back off the post and was put high over the bar, probably their best chance of the half. We continued to press and control most of the play, but couldn’t find the net again!
After half time, Parkway change changed formation and played a more direct game, pushing 3 forward to apply early pressure with each clearance. This worked for Parkway as they created several chances but couldn’t convert. However it was long before a cross from wide left Lloyd Copp with 2 to mark, and saw a Parkway player easily head home their first goal. Chances came and went at either end, but another Parkway cross dropped in the box, and in the scramble was hammered home to make it 3-2 tivvy with 18 minutes to go. This woke us up, we created more chances to put the game out of reach, probably the best with Ethan Phillips racing clear, only to be thwarted twice but defensive blocks. The game ended with a flurry of activity at both ends, Parkway throwing everything into getting an equaliser, but we held out for a well deserved win, and keep our good run of form going. Next week we face Launceston at home in the league..
