Throgmorton Champions Cup Winners

Tiverton Reserves won the newly created ‘Champions Cup’ 4-1, at Coach Road.

With a fine footballing display from the start, Tiverton dominated most of the game creating many good opportunities with there slick passing and fast movement.

An early goal from Jamie Densham, volleyed home from the edge of the box, set Tivvy on there way. Unfortunately with all there pressure Tivvy couldn’t make that tell, and just over mid way through the half long ball through wasn’t dealt with and the Buckland striker seized his chance in the confusion to lob Wannel from distance to level the scores. This led to heads and the tempo dropping and allowing Buckland to have a brief spell of pressure up to half time.

A good team talk at half time fired Tivvy up again for the 2nd half, and once again Tivvy started on the front foot putting pressure on the opposition, with some slick interplay it wasn’t long before Tivvy scored again and took total control of the game. 3 more goalms in the second half from, Dave O’Connors penalty, Richard Grooms header from a corner, and a superb curled shot from Charlie Selley saw Tivvy seal the Trophy and record the clubs first silverware of the season.

Many thanks to all the supporters and committee members who came down to watch and cheer Tiverton on to victory.

Well done to all the players and coaching staff for a superb performance on the day, and congratulations to ‘Man of the Match’ Isaac Furness…. 🏆
