December 1961 - Tivvy 6 - 1 Lympstone
Club Chairman Dave Graham was delighted to be presented with a framed programme from Bill Bellamy at the Bridgwater home game. The programme is an original from the game played 50 years ago on 16th Dec 1961 and will no doubt take pride of place in the club house.
Bill played for the Lympstone team that succcumb to the Yellows in a 6 - 1 defeat. At the time Tiverton were playing in the Exeter & District League premier Division. The game was palyed on December 16th 1961 at Ladysmead. The Tiverton goal scorers were Ben White, Stuart Southcott, Pat Hagley, Roy Banfield, Bobby Westcott 2 there was no shame in the result for Lympstone as 3 of the 5 Tiverton goal scorers are in the top 20 all time goal scoring records for Tiverton - Ben White (179 goals), Alec Collard (154 goals) and Roy Banfield (105 goals)
Sportsmans Dinner 7th March 2012 for Adam Faux
Adam as we all know is a great guy who has served the club well in his time here and is bursting to get back on the field before the current league campaign ends. He is a very fortunate to be able to have this goal and have so many good friends, team mates and without doubt a very close strong family.
The main speakers will of course be two ex Liverpool stars and we have booked Alan Kennedy and Jimmy Case. Both names need little introduction as they were major stars in the late 70's, the 80's and of course both guys played into the 90's.
This night is for Adam, with all profits going to him from the night other than a busy bar so the club can make some needed money as well.
The club has been booked for Wednesday 7th March and more information will be available soon......

Tiverton’s place exactly in the middle of the table entering the weekend was a perfectly fair reflection on the season so far. The Yellows had only managed to beat one side in the top ten places and likewise only lost to one side in the bottom ten, so there really was little argument that Tivvy were the Southern League’s Mr. Average. In order to extend an unbeaten run that went back eight games Town would have to overcome a very useful and in-form Gosport Borough side who had themselves lost just once in their past eighteen league outings and who, in Justin Bennett, boasted the Division’s top goalscorer. |
